Things To Do
Hiking
There are numerous hikes in the area ranging in different levels of difficulty. There is Big Moose Mountain, Little Moose, Kineo, Number Four Mountain to name a few. Check out this more comprehensive list for more about hiking in the area.
Fishing
If you like fishing, then you will never get bored here. You can fish the lake, rivers, dams, and remote ponds. Don't have a boat? No problem! You can fish right from the cabins in Moose River. If you fly fish, the East Outlet, one of the most famous fishing rivers in Maine, is not far from the cabins.
Sight-seeing
Northern Maine offers plenty of natural beauty. Loads of trails, waterfalls, mountains, and more. Keep in mind that this area is very remote. Anywhere you go will be quite a drive and most likely down some bumpy dirt roads! Make sure to top the tank off, preload the GPS (spotty service), and 4wd would be a good idea. Campfires
If you want to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, this is the perfect place. You don't even have to leave the cabin. Come with your food and a bag of marshmallows to unwind. There's a grill, fire pit, and picnic table outside each cabin.
Hunting
The area is great for hunting. People come from all over to hunt deer, moose, birds, and more in this area. Closest to zone 8 and 9 for moose hunting.
ITS Trails
With your snowmobile (or ATV in the summer), you can leave straight from the cabins and drive hundreds of miles on trails. Check out Pittstons Farms, Northeast Carry, Jackman, Kokadjo, the Forks, and more.
Kineo Shuttle
May 28th-October 11th the Kineo Shuttle runs back and forth from to Rockwood Boat Launch to Kineo. $13/person over 5. Under 5 free. Pets free. Cash only. See schedule on their website.
